Cape Fox Shared Services and Eagle Health are seeking Physician Assistants to work full time providing care to our deserving Army at Ft. Hood, Killeen Texas in the Urgent Care clinic.

Core Duties: The patient population will consist of urgent/acute care patients that are seeking medical intervention for their concerns. Patients will be seen on a first come, first served basis based on the triage category given. No appointments are given to the patients seen within the emergency department. This will include the patients assigned to the Urgent Care Clinic. The provider must utilize effective time management skills and develop a medical decision making process to ensure patient flow. Shall take patients medical history. Perform complete physical examination or examination pertinent to the patients chief complaint and records findings. Orders pertinent laboratory studies and X-rays. Formulates a working diagnosis and determines whether ambulatory treatment is sufficient or whether to consult with supervisor concerning hospitalization or other warranted action. Writes consults referring patients to specialty clinics. In accordance with scope of practice, administers treatment and therapy in those cases which are minor and simple to the degree that ambulatory, short term treatment is sufficient such as head and chest colds, influenza, uncomplicated gastrointestinal and skin disorders, cuts, burns, wounds, sprains, suturing minor lacerations, draining abscesses, etc. Responsible for maintenance of the highest standards of professional care in the treatment of patients and in the teaching and training of residents and technicians. Prepare and document appropriate history, physical examinations and diagnosis. Maintain documentation of all treatment provided in accordance with hospital directives and prepare such records and reports as may be required by the contract. Ensure all documentation and reports are legible. Independently prescribes medications from approved formulary. Issues temporary profiles according to MTF policy. Shall use and be guided by the MTF formulary. Shall prepare all documentation to meet established standards of the MTF and DoD to include but not limited to timeliness, legibility, accuracy, content and signature. Only MTF and Army approved abbreviations can be used for documentation of care in the health care record. The PA shall use the CHCS and MEBFTS for keeping records, ordering of ancillary procedures, ordering of medications, entering orders, and performing other required patient record functions. The PA shall indicate responsibility for the contents and correctness of all prepared reports/forms by affixing his/her own signature and stamp to the documents and validating their contents. Shall follow DoD, Army, MTF, and TRICARE regulations and policies when arranging for a referral or consult. The PA shall inform patients of the required referral or consult by indicating the specialty involved. Shall respect and maintain the basic rights of patients, demonstrating concern for personal dignity and human relationships. PAs receiving complaints validated by the QAE and Chief of the Medical Staff shall be subject to counseling and depending on the nature and severity of the complaint, separation from performing services under this contract. Shall maintain open and professional communication with members of the MTF. Shall be required to perform their assigned duties with regard to all admitted patients, outpatients and eligible beneficiaries, regardless of underlying diseases process or physical condition of such patients or beneficiaries. Shall take part in Department Quality Improvement Programs as required to meet the standards of the Joint Commission. Shall attend and participate inpatient care reports, patient care conferences, team conferences, professional staff conferences and other approrp8iate professional activities to the extent that such attendance and participation is relative to his/her assigned cases and/or performance of contract services.
