Description SHIFT: Days (rotating weekends) SCHEDULE: Full-time S t. David's North Austin Medical Center combines convenience with leading-edge healthcare services. Located at Parmer Lane and Mopac Expressway, the facility has provided comprehensive medical services since 1995. The campus is home to the St. David's Women's Center of Texas (includes a Level III NICU), Texas Institute for Robotic Surgery, Certified Stroke Center and rehabilitation services, and Kidney Transplant Center. Position Summary: Responsible for coordinating, planning, organizing, delegating, directing, and evaluating services delivered by St. David's North Austin Medical Center nursing units including general pediatric medical-surgical, pediatric intensive care, and pediatric emergency services. Collaborates and coordinates with other department leadership for the functions and activities of nursing care performed in the above mentioned areas in conformance with recognized nursing techniques and procedures, established standards, and administrative policies. Collaborates with senior management to allocate resources in a manner that optimizes the hospital's performance according to the strategic plan. Develops and recommends policies, procedures or programs to improve or enhance the quality, efficiency and/or effectiveness of patient care within the specialty area in collaboration with medical staff. Knowledgeable of healthcare trends and integrates into strategic planning for service line. Primary responsibilities include staffing (retention, recruitment, and education), planning physical bed capacity and staffed bed capacity to meet projected needs, ensuring profitability of service lines, identifying capital needs and patient safety and quality. Accountable for the implementation of an effective and continuous program to measure, assess and improve performance. Ensures all legal and regulatory requirements are met for the operations of the pediatric service line. Qualifications Knowledge & Skills: Demonstrated ability to manage, plan, and communicate programs that follow the mission and success indicators to improve or enhance the quality, efficiency and/or effectiveness of patient care within the service line. Knowledge of pediatric general acute, critical, and emergency care nursing and the ability to drive the professional practice of nursing and develop a participative environment that supports nursing advocacy. Ability to interact effectively with various groups or one-on-one, including physician partners. Excellent communication/articulation skills. Ability to drive unit performance in alignment with hospital strategic and quality goals. Education and Experience: Required: Master's degree in nursing or related field required. Preferred: Certification in clinical specialty or leadership highly preferred. Five (5) years experience in management, preferably in a hospital setting with experience to include management of personnel, payroll, budgets, capital business planning, marketing, and physician relations. Credentials: Required: Texas RN License or a Compact RN license from a NCLA Compact State; BLS certification. Preferred: PALS
